Experience and areas of specialisation
Since 1978, Mark has been part of Adelaide’s legal profession, specialising in commercial and business legal advice and services, business disputes and litigation as well as insolvency litigation. For two decades he has been at the helm of leading Adelaide commercial law firms combining both his business acumen and commercial law knowledge.
Mark has also been extensively involved with civic affairs and public administration, primarily eleven years as an Adelaide City Council Alderman, and one as Deputy Lord Mayor, as well as being appointed by the South Australian Government to the State Heritage Authority, the Grand Prix Board and the Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Mark also has past and current experience as a company director.
In the early 1990s, Mark’s background in the wine industry led him to successfully revive a former family wine business, Hamilton’s Ewell Vineyards which, in 1837, was the first winery established in South Australia.
Personal interests
Mark is a keen runner, however, his major interests lie in the field of arts and heritage. He is an avid collector of Regency and Georgian antiques and has a fine appreciation of modern Australian art, a love of classic motor vehicles and a keen appreciation for heritage buildings and wine. His family heritage is steeped in the wine industry and his own vineyards provide a valued diversion from his legal and business life.
